No. 31 & No. 35 at The Hempel are tucked away from London’s hustle and bustle. Complete with a private Zen Garden, The Hempel offers minimalist-chic and über-cool design by the renowned designer Anouska Hempel.
Regarded by the locals as the area’s best kept secret, No. 35 Restaurant appeals to individuals who appreciate good service and honest seasonal cooking by Chef Mike Carter (previously at Michelin-rated Arbutus and the Capital hotel).
For a more laidback vibe, No. 31 Lounge Bar is open all day and draws in the crowds with its glam cocktails, fine wines and tempting range of casual cuisine including afternoon tea.
On a light autumn evening, we recommend taking a peep at the beautiful Zen Garden where the final wedding scene between Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in “Notting Hill” was filmed.
Signature dishes include Pan Fried Scottish Diver Scallops with Smoked Black Pudding and Parsley Cream, Loin of Jurassic Coast Lamb with Baby Artichokes, Aubergine Caviar and Crisp Polenta or Fillet of Wild Seabass with Grilled Asparagus and English Pea & Broad Bean Risotto. Earl Grey Crème Brûlée with Orange Sorbet and Honeycomb Crunch makes for a delicious but supremely light dessert choice.
