| The Hoxton Pony is a striking addition to Shoreditch’s dining scene. The interior is at once minimalist, unpretentious and eccentric: huge light boxes line the walls, showing large-scale photographs, smoked mirrors set off stainless steel and high-gloss surfaces and coloured lighting creates a warm atmosphere. The food at the Pony matches the décor in its strength; duck and turnip pie, chicken glazed with liquorice and cockles in malt vinegar are all contemporary twists on English classics. The wines, beers and spirits have been hand-selected and the cocktails are all made from organic ingredients. For food of this standard, the prices are surprisingly low: three courses here will cost an average of only £30 per head. |
